Pet Hate "The Bride Wore Red" - 1984

Good, not great, debut LP from Pet Hate. To their credit, these dudes really did know their way around a melody and always found the chorus, so its confusing to me why they never made a dent in the states. The timing was right, their tunes where catchy, and their hair was tall enough, so if anyone has a theory as to why they remain so overshadowed when talking about this brand of 80's rock, please leave a comment and let me know.

Track Listing:
The Bride Wore Red
Moya's Comin' Out
How Can (I Carry On)
Love Me Madly
Wanting You
Caught (Red Handed)
The Party's Over
Roll Away the Stone
First Kiss
Real Good Time

  2. Hi Alistar, long time no hear of!

Michael Parris here, for those that don't know the band I was the good looking one but could hardly play hehe.

In fact I'm probably the reason we failed?

I can remember my last night with the band, if memory serves me right, we had the producer from the tube lined up to watch us, if he liked we were gonna get a spot, and also some guy from warner brothers was gonna come and watch us and arrange some gigs in the us of a, either one or both didnt turn up.

I got a bit drunk/stoned meeting a m8 before the gig, (had promised to behave but I was young and daft) we had a new guitarist called (odd but true) Jimmy Page, who wasn't 100% familiar with the material.

Basically I wanted us to be a 100% raw and drunken rock and roll band, the rest of the band wanted to be more professional and be taken seriously, I doubted that any of us had the talent for that, but we COULD have been a 'good time' band.

I got kicked from the band after that gig for drunkeness (ironic when u see the cover of bad publicity) and dont know what happened after that.

I kinda gave up on music after that, was 24 and fairly certain I was never going to make it, now I'm a deputy manager of a nursing home and absolutely love it, I reckon if i'd stayed in the 'scene' I woulda been just another low level rock n roll casualty, permanently drunk, stoned or worse.

    funny old thing life eh?

Best wishes to Alistair and any other band members who stumbe across this

  5. Hey Alistair,
Would you be able to put your "Yonge At Heart" album up on a site such as Napster, Rhapsody or Deezer?
I'm sure there are quite a few Silverwing / Pet Hate diehards who'd love to hear it!
What are you up to these days?
    Cheers and all the best,
A fan from Macc, from t'old days
